COFFEE STRAIGHT FROM OUR FAMILY FARM

Del Cid Coffee is coffee grown with love, inspiration, courage and honor. Finca Del Cid has been around for 7 generations. We are the first generation to take over the supply chain making us the first Zero Trade Coffee™. The Del Cid Coffee was founded by Herceny, the older sister of Lendel and Kevin, daughter of Lino(RIP) and Marina, Dog Mom of Chucho. Herceny decided to take over the supply chain with and only with full support of her brothers and Mother. Del Cid Coffee was founded in 2023!

Lino and Marina started running the coffee farms in 1980, although they worked their families farms since children. Finca Del Cid of Farms/Estate, produced coffee cherries and were planted, cared for, harvested and sold by Marina and Lino. At this point we just sold our coffee cherries to a washing mill and had no idea what happened next. We immigrated to the USA in 1990, for a better opportunity as being coffee farmers kept us in an economic disadvantage. While in the USA, Lino and Marina worked hard for their children and sent money back for the maintenance of the coffee farms. Which to Herceny made absolutely 0 sense, now living in the USA.  A cup of coffee cost $2-$3 a cup. She always wondered if that was her coffee she was drinking. In the early 90s as new immigrants they were financially limited as well, but even then, the USA had more to offer them and their children. Herceny remembers drinking instant coffee because they could not afford better coffee. Although, they were coffee farmers and still producing coffee in Guatemala.

Herceny did not understand why they were poor in Guatemala, owning coffee farms. She always looked at the pictures of farmers at coffee shops and it hurt her heart because she knew, they were probably suffering like her own family and they had no idea their picture was being used to market someone's coffee shop, event though they were forgotten. Herceny became aware of the disconnect between the coffee drinker in the US and the World, and the Coffee Farmers and the plant. This led to Del Cid Coffee, a company that connects the coffee drinker to the coffee farmer. This is why their slogan is COFFEE IS A FRUIT™ because during their first sales at farmers markets in the USA, people had no idea. 

With the help of her brothers and her mother, Herceny studied every step of the coffee supply chain, from agronomy of growing healthy plants to roasting their coffee seeds perfectly. This took her approximately 4-5 years of studying the coffee supply chain.
